Case Study - Niche dependent design

Office of the Pricipal Chief Controller of Accounts, India, a government organisation contracted Modulus Systems to design their website. They were unable to cope with their needs for adding new data every other day. Their previous web designer was busy, and took a few days for every update. Although he was skilled, having to change the website on a regular basis collided with his other projects. Whereas for the office, it was unacceptable to have old data on display.
We came in and proposed, what we thought, was a great design, with a fully integrated CMS for instant content management. A meeting was held, and though the design was appreciated, it didn't go along with other Government website standards. It was too flashy and decorative for them. We proposed a basic layout with more stress on information and it was accepted.

Similarly, when we went about desiging a flash based presentation for Airtel, one of India's leading telecom companies, we knew something jazzy wouldn't help as it was targetted to normal people. Here, conveying of our idea was more important than showcasing design skills. Our presentation was selected for their local advertisement campaign instantly.
